About Me

After playing in orchestras in Europe for six years, Kevin has returned to the USA and now lives in Roanoke, Virginia. While in Europe, Kevin was blessed to be able to play in some of the most famous concert halls in there and work with some of the most famous European classical musicians. He was co-principal
of the Ruse Philharmonic and Opera in Ruse, Bulgaria for four years and second bassoonist with the Sarajevo Philharmonic in Bosnia and Herzegovina for two seasons.

Prior to being in Sarajevo, he graduated with a Masters of Music degree in Bassoon performance from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music where he studied with Christopher Millard, Principal bassoon of the National Arts Centre Orchestra. He received his Bachelors of Music in Bassoon Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music studying with Barrick Stees, associate principal bassoon of The Cleveland Orchestra. During his college years, he regularly substituted with the Canton Symphony, the York Symphony, and the Ashland Symphony.

Working backwards in time, in the summers of 2014, 2015, & 2016 Kevin was the bassoonist for Camp-of-the-Woods, a Christian family resort in the Adirondack Mountains in New York. During summers prior to that, he was a Woodwind Teaching Assistant at Interlochen Summer Music Camp in Michigan. In 2010, after his 2nd year at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Kevin attended Aspen Music Festival. In high school, he was blessed to study with renowned bassoon pedagogue Shirley Curtiss, be a member of the Weinstein Woodwind Quintet at Settlement Music School, and a member of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra. One year after starting bassoon at age 16, Kevin joined the Advanced Study Weinstein Woodwind Quintet at Settlement Music School.

In addition to being an orchestral bassoonist, Kevin loves playing solo repertoire as well. He had his professional solo debut with the Sarajevo Philharmonic in 2015. He also strives to share the gift of live classical music through frequent performances at churches, retirement communities, and even train stations!
